JASON BOVAIRD is a multi award winning lighting designer graduating from Melbourne University in 1995 and also graduating from New York University’s Broadway Masterclass in Lighting Design gaining an internship in 2011 with legendary Broadway lighting designer Ken Billington (Chicago, Crazy For You, New York New York (2023 Tony Nomination).
Jason most recently lit the Green Room Award winning production of KINKY BOOTS (James Terry Collective) which earned him a 2023 Green Room Award nomination. He has been in constant demand for plays, musicals, dance and corporate events throughout Australia and overseas. Jason is also a mentor to theatre technical and lighting design students across a number of leading performing arts institutions, Monash University, Polytechnic College (Performing Arts), University of Melbourne (Theatre Production) and in London at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Jason has an ongoing interest in architecture and architectural lighting design and luminaire design.

Jason has recieved multiple awards and nominations for the Tasmanian Theatre Awards both in the professional and Independent theatre section over the last 10 years. In October 2022 Jason received a nomination in the coveted London Theatre Off West End Standing Ovation Awards for his lighting design on “Bubble Show for Adults Only”.
